It is understood that the Direction is fully responsible for the Action Program to be developed in the next year. Still, it’s important to point out some of the concerns and actions of the former Directive body. Being so, having in account the human conditions and possibilities, both technical and economical, we will limit ourselves to continue the action that the SAAP has been conducting on the fight against alcohol related problems, it’s consequences on the patient and his family, to the Prevention of Alcoholism, never letting behind does who are already the target of the repercussions of the excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages:

Reinforce the technical support in the ambit of Alcohology consults;

Maintain the continuity of Formation, Information and Awareness Actions;

To devote the best attention to the reinforcement of the fields of Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Prevention;

To provide the utmost valorisation and projection of SAAP, in all fields, especially in the Alcohological one;

To create on SAAP, the best conditions to welcome and treat patients not allowing that their statues and objectives be surpassed or adulterated;

To diffuse the fight against Alcoholism, always contributing to the defence of the health of its users, mainly in national territory, seeking the best relationship with its national and foreign congeners;

Support to Patients – Ambulatory and Internments

Some effort has been made in the sense of providing the alcoholic patients the best solutions to their treatment. We still count with the possibilities of internment of patients in the Serviço de Alcoologia do Hospital Miguel Bombarda, Centro Regional de Alcoologia do Sul (CRAS) e Casa de Saúde do Telhal.

In 2004, thanks to their availability and comprehension, several patients where treated in the Psychiatry/Alcohology consults, in Private Consultations at Algés. New consults in the SAAP headquarters where also initiated in October, having the desired continuity trough 2005.

Conta Comigo

 The official SAAP organ that spreads the word, information and support to all associates and friends of SAAP, continues with the same commitment, objective and regularity.

We hope for the best collaborations and funding to make it possible to improve it. We also maintain the hope that the INEM continues to help us by sponsoring it.

Library

Despite the economical difficulties with witch we daily struggle, we seriously continue to bet and further enrich the thematic library existent in SAAP headquarters, witch maintains its doors open to receive young students and other people that wish to enrich their knowledge’s in the ambit of Alcoholism.

Social support

In parallel with the constant activity of Information and Telephonic Support, a volumous work in Clinical Psychology and Psychiatric/Alcohology Consults has been registered occupying a large percentage of the human resources time in SAAP.

Since in this field the Social Support constitutes a serious preoccupation, and before the large seeking of SAAP by people who pretend to be HELPED, we foresee a crescent and significative increase in the numbers of alcoholics seeking help.

Minimum Income

SAAP maintains its commitment and collaboration with the Minimum Income Project, close to the families with problems related to alcohol.

SAAP’s birthday

In February SAAP commemorates its 38^th birthday. It will be dignifying to honour its existence with the possible appreciation manifestation that deserves, like it happened in other years.

Associates Campaign

As in transacted years, it will be convenient and highly advantageous to develop the Associates Campaign that has been realized so fare. Providing so, the better achievement of the goals of this institution.

Conclusions

Other events will not be absent from our horizons, yet we hope that essential monetary means will be attributed to pursue our struggle.
